†††† You can kiss your friends and family goodbye and put miles between you, but at the same time you carry them with you in your heart, your mind, your stomach, because you do not just live in a world but a world lives in you.††††.
This is an old picture of the light. Erosion has washed away the surrounding land. You can drive to the far east end of the island park and walk in through an old coast guard station to view the lighthouse from the end of the island. Morris Island Lighthouse, South Carolina at Lighthousefriends.com
Morris Island Light, built in 1876 on the sight of two previous lights. It once stood on an island, hosted keepers with families and at least 15 buildings, including a schoolhouse. There was even a car for a time! When the shipping channels were dredged to allow larger ships in the harbor, the changed tides and water flow ate the island away. Sullivan Island light replaced it in 1962. Now there's barely a sand bar at low tide.
