Here we see Chinese Viceroy Li Hung Chang and US President Ulysses S. Grant meeting in China 1879 at the end of Grant's second term, while Grant was on his world tour to drum up support for a third one.

Able Seacat Simon (fair use) @Briana Gordon Simon was a heroic seacat who received a medal for his war efforts. There's also a short YouTube video of him, which I wasn't able to pin.

Simon the cat. In during the Yangtze Incident, Simon the cat received the PDSA's Dickin Medal after surviving injuries from a cannon shell, raising morale, and killing off a rat infestation during his service.

This is about the Chinese Americans during the Progressive era. Due to the small amount of Chinese immigrants, they often lived near immigrants that spoke the same language and had similar culture. There were secret societies, such as tongs, that provided support to the new immigrants.
