Hitler's army had been successfully cut in two and peace at last seemed close. ❖❖❖ In this photo: American GI Lt Robertson and Russian soldier Lt Sylvashko posed for a victory photograph – perhaps one of the last gestures of friendship before almost 50 years of enmity during the Cold War.
