Boom Boom Syrah 2011 Washington State. This was my secret santa gift. It was bought at The Wine Thief in New Haven, CT. It is a good wine but not worth the $18.00. I would rather have two bottles of the Laya 2010 D.O. for the same price.

Purple Angel 2006. This is one of the flagships of Montes winery in Chile, introducing the indigenous Carmenere grape (with addition of 8% Petit Verdot). It is bottled unfiltered, so it was necessary to decant for two hours. Dark solid color. Amazing nose, fully concentrated, with cherries, berries and coffee, with only traces of oak. In the palette, full bodied with excellently integrated silky tannins and constant long lasting aftertaste. A wine worth every last euro of its price. 92…
