Murdochs Department Store, (later Waltons) 1928-1985 Located opposite Town Hall. The 12storey complex was a feature on the skyline for many years. Its 210ft high stone cupola was designed to mimic the clock tower opposite. It was all pulled down in 1980s to make way for a 100storey Skytower, which never happened and remained a hole for years until 2000 when current Citigroup Tower was erected. http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-vn3083680
