The Tale of Genji 源氏物語 - a classic work of Japanese literature written by the Japanese noblewoman, Lady Murasaki Shikibu in the early years of the 11th century, around the peak of the Heian period. The Tale of Genji - an ancient piece of literature that is even considered the first novel in existence written by Murasaki Shikibu, a Japanese woman who was born off of the Fujiwara clan.
