Lieutenant Franklin Harrison Weaver Co. H "the Iredell Independent Grays" NC State Troops. Killed in action September 1862 while grasping the company colors in the "Bloody Lane" and trying to rally his men, who were falling fast. Thanks to Greg Mast.
William Henry Taylor (left) and Stephen Stewart (right), members of the Virginia Infantry, American Civil War *Fascinating when I find this photo around the internet. William Taylor is my cousin and the only KNOWN Confederate ancestor I have.
Major James Breathed of Stuarts Horse Artillery. Graduated from medical school 1855. Became a superb warrior & was praised by Lee as his hardest fighting artillerist. A favorite tactic during artillery duels was to advance his guns & not retreat when the enemy found his range. When his battery was not in action the mercurial Breathed would often charge with the cavalry & was known to engage in hand to hand combat then administer battlefield aid to his foes.
