Similar to the British Livens Projector, the German Gaswurfminen was a simple mortar-like weapon for launching chemical shells. Consisting of a steel tube and an explosive charge set off by an electric current, the weapon could throw a chemical shell almost 2km. Over eight hundred of these were used against the Italian Army at the Battle of Caporetto, Nov 1917.
