Pushkar is a town in the Ajmer district in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is situated at 14 km North West from Ajmer at an average elevation of 510 metres feet), and is one of the five sacred dhams (pilgrimage sites for devout Hindus).
Sanskrit language-There are no native speakers of Sanskrit, which technically makes it an extinct language. However, Sanskrit is used in sacral rites and scriptures of Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism; and is one of the 23 official languages of India. Sanskrit is also used as a learned medium of communication among Hindu scholars. There are efforts in the scholastic community to revive Sanskrit. Approximately 6 million people in India speak Sanskrit as a second language.
