Day We decided to stay again at the Snow Lion Resort in Yangshuo. There was a torrential downpour all morning, which gave us a nice excuse to chill on the balcony to do some reading and take in the views.
Day 140: We checked into the Snow Lion Resort in Yangshuo to drop our things off before hopping on the river. The resort is nestled in the mountains of a remote village along the Li River. The views, rooms, and facilities are excellent…so much so, Jeremy and I decided we’ll go back for our anniversary in a few weeks.
Day 162: We wandered along the Li River in Yangshuo. The downpour from the day before made the river rise and we found out later that many of the river attractions (boat rides, light show, etc.) were canceled due to the rushing currents. Though the boats were all anchored, all sorts of other interesting things were cruising down the river.
Day 138: Due to my catching a cold I stayed home and did a little research/map hunting for our upcoming travels to Guangzhou and Yangshuo while John and Jeremy explored Dafen and Dongmen. Apparently they had a man-date at Pizza Hut, Jeremy introduced John to the Chinese Wal-mart experience, and they explored alleys of puppies, cheap clothes and street food in Dongmen…perhaps John will share his documentation of these experiences on Facebook. Day 140: Our next stop was Silver Cave near Yangshuo, an extensive, colourfully illuminated cavern inside Guilin’s karst hills, and the longest cave I’ve walked through. The meandering pathways, at some points tight and narrow would open up into huge spaces with towering formations that felt like Tolkien’s Lonely Mountain…sadly no dwarves were sighted.
