Did you know? On this day in 1917 the British royal family changed their name of Hanover to Windsor. Anti-German sentiment during WWI caused George V to change his dynasty name from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the House of Windsor. Older brother Prince Albert was in line for the throne, but died of pneumonia. George became successor and married his brother's fiancé.

"King George V (1865-1936) - father of King George VI (1895-1952). One of the few men in history who can make that beard and moustache combination work (apart from Nicholas II who also looks great) and actually look wonderful in it."

George V beard - heavy moustache worn as a handlebar, solid in the chin. Neat lines shaped by cut throat razor on the cheeks and neck.
