I became a Christian as a graduate student studying biochemistry. The cell's complexity, elegance, and sophistication coupled with the inadequacy of evolutionary scenarios to account for life's origin compelled me to conclude that life must stem from a Creator. Reading through the Sermon on the Mount convinced me that Jesus was who Christians claimed Him to be Lord and Savior. Still, evangelism wasn't important to me - until my father died. Jesse is the Senior Pastor at Sebastopol Christian Church in Northern California. After playing professional soccer in Scotland and Zimbabwe, God redirected him into ministry. Jesse graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Psychology, and also holds a Masters Degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He has written “Rooted in Grace” and recently “A New Season”. Jesse and his wife Laurie have three children.

Ben LaCorte is the founding director of WordTrax and Heroes of the Cross.He has a passion to train believers in how to understand and defend their faith in Christ. Ben holds advanced degrees in Business and Biblical Literature – and is currently studying Christian Apologetics. He teaches apologetics at the high school, college, and adult levels through his local church.

Lee Laaveg, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa,joined the staff of Christian Crusaders in 2015 as associate speaker. An alumni of Augustana College, Lee graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. His passion is to help people discover grace through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Lee and his wife Denise have four children and four grandchildren.

Steve Kramer, senior pastor of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Afton, Minnesota, delivers most of our sermons. He joined Christian Crusaders in 2005. Steve’s mission is to tell as many people as he can about Jesus. After graduating from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, he attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Steve and his wife, Julie, have two adult children and one grandson.
