1/6th Plate Composite Case (Wood/Paper Mache) : Cases like this were common (ca.1855-1865) for use of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and early tintype photographs. They can be easily mistaken for the embossed leather cases that resemble them, but upon close inspection the difference can be revealed. The wooden body is covered with an embossed paper mache coating (similar to leather cases)
