After the failure of the big house in Switzerland Corbu then designed La Petite Maison for his mother and father on the shores of Lake Geneva. It was a small house and a perfect space. A wonderful place just to look at the sunshine. In September 1924, he wrote his (then) girlfriend (Yvonne Gallis) back in Paris “the little house will be like an ancient temple at the water’s edge.” --Le Corbusier A Life
Façade of the Villa La Roche, ca. 1925 In the 20’s Corbu suddenly was meeting important people; getting big commissions. He did a great villa for the art collector Raoul La Roche. It was designed to be filled with paintings… It should be thought of as a place designed for the collection that Corbu and Ozenfant helped La Roche create of work by Braque, Picasso, Leger, Gris and Le Corbusier himself.
