San Luis Obispo, California - USA: is located roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on the Central Coast. Founded in 1772 by Spanish Franciscan Junípero Serra, it is one of California's oldest communities and is adjacent to California Polytechnic State University. The population is 45,119 (2010 census). I visited it in 1975 after a trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco by car with a friend. I photographed the famous Spanish mission then ate at a local restaurant.
