This painting shows one of many Dreamtime stories and hunting methods that were passed down through our people, the Bakandji, over thousands of years.  It depicts a Sand Goanna being hunted around a water hole which is on a claypan base between sandhills, where the Goanna burrows. Our tribe used digging sticks that are made from the Wattle Tree, to dig the Goanna out.
