The Bohemian garnet is a unique and distinctive gemstone which was properly identified only a few decades ago when gemologists were able to determine the gemstone�s characteristics and origins. Bohemian garnet deposits were found only in Bohemia, predominantly in the Bohemian Highlands massif.

A Russian Demantoid Garnet and Fancy Colored Diamond Cluster Ring circa 1890, with a later shank The ring is set with an exceedingly rare 5.1 carat Russian Ural demantoid, encircled by a single row of six white and six fancy colored old cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 1.80 ct. The dark grass green stone is full of 'valuable' so-called "horsetails", inclusions found only in demantoids from the Urals.
