French 75. Old bar at Arnaud's NYTimes 36 Hours: begin with a classic. The French 75 Bar is a side chapel to Arnaud’s, one of the old French Quarter dining palaces. The bar can get smoky, but that’s part of its French colonial charm, along with the animal print upholstery and tuxedoed bar staff. Order a Sazerac ($6.95) or let Chris Hannah, one of the city’s best bartenders, stir up something of his own design.
Hubig's Pies! Located in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans just east of the historic French Quarter, the Simon Hubig Pie Company bakes all of their products daily, as in Hubig's original plant. Fresh, local ingredients are used. And "Savory Simon" is memorialized in the company logo. Fire destroyed the Hubig's factory on July 27, 2012.
