Chesley Calhoun Bellamy (1859-1880) Born 1859, Chesley Calhoun Bellamy was named after ardent states rights supporter and South Carolina native John C. Calhoun. Chesley attended Davidson College for awhile but contracted viral encephalitis. He died at age 21 while home on summer break. His gravestone pictured here is in the historic Oakdale Cemetery.
