Oude Haven Rotterdam bij avond
The Old Harbour is one of the oldest ports of Rotterdam. This is the place where the river Rotte flowed into the Nieuwe Maas; after a dam was made in the Rotte this part remained connected to the main river. In the middle of the picture we see the White House, Europe's first skyscraper, built in 1898. Behind it a row of pre-war buildings which during the construction of the railway tunnel in the nineties have been stored for several years.
