For hundreds of years following the convents demise, a bell could be heard ringing on stormy nights.Legend had it that it was a warning to seafarers on Carlingford Lough. The source could not be found, it was thought the sound came from the old graveyard. Then in 1839, a storm felled an old tree in the Kilbroney Graveyard, and within its trunk, a bell was found. Whether it was forgotten about as the convent disappeared, or was placed here to save it during raids, well never know.
May 31, 2013. Nine people were killed in tornadoes that swept through central OK on Friday, part of a storm system that caused widespread flooding in Oklahoma City and its suburbs. The dead included two children and seven adults. The death toll earlier had been reported as five. The latest storms dumped up to 8 inches of rain on the Oklahoma City area, causing flash flooding that submerged parts of the sprawling metropolitan area that is home to more than 1.3 million people.
