Christopher Kane AW 14 RTW. The swirl shapes in the sleeves of this garment are very similar to Gehry's Work, especially his "Easy Edges" cardboard furniture collection. I love this 3D idea and swirls and could use it on my furnishing fabrics, however it would be hard to add 3D to a 2D fabric and something that can be used with in the home.
The contrast of a geometric print with the soft fabric of knitwear is innovative. Here the use of colour is very inspiring. This designer has used contrasting colour blocking. Mary Katrantzou, Fall/Winter 2014, London; The image is of the series of motifs used in Katrantzou collection. The motifs combine street signage with heraldry symbolism. The pieces use bright and bold colours to contrast traditional khaki colour palette. The samples could explore the use of symmetry and Katrantzou uniformed structural but also look at embroidery and beading techniques which highlight texture and dimensional elements within each sample.
