NOTICE - This is not a real location unless you live in Tolkien's Middle Earth as represented in the Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring. I keep seeing this picture of the relating to travel locations and travel/location boards. I don't know if this is some kind of cruel prank for those not acquainted Tolkien's stories, or what.

"There are some people who read and want to believe in a world where the good guys win and the bad guys lose, and at the end they live happily ever after. That’s not the kind of fiction that I write. Tolkien was not that. The scouring of the Shire proved that. Frodo’s sadness – that was a bittersweet ending, which to my mind was far more powerful than the ending of Star Wars, where all the happy Ewoks are jumping around, and the ghosts of all the dead people appear, waving happily [laughs]…

British Library Fights To Preserve Historic Recordings Archive - As part of its vast collection of literary and historic treasures (the Magna Carta, Leonardo da Vinci's notebook), the British Library owns some six million sound recordings, including significant theater productions, famous voices (like J.R.R. Tolkien's), and field recordings of extinct animals. Some of them date back to the earliest and most fragile days of recording technology.

And we shouldn’t be here at all, if we’d known more about it before we started. But I suppose it’s often that way. The brave things in the old tales and songs, Mr. Frodo: adventures, as I used to call them. I used to think that they were things the wonderful folk of the stories went out and looked for, because they wanted them, because they were exciting and life was a bit dull, a kind of a sport, as you might say. But that’s not the way of it with the tales that really mattered, or the ones…

#artsyandabitbooknerdy Day Fifteen: The Hobbit JRR Tolkien // Cozy books My idea of a cozy book is something light entertaining and satisfying (and hopefully a completed story that I can binge)! The Paper Magician series checks off all of the above and I blew through them so quickly and the ending was SO comforting! Like warm happy feelings and "whew!" kind of comforting What's your idea of a cozy night in? -- -- -- -- #bookshelf #bookstagram #bookworm #booklover #bookphoto #bookclub…

Gandalf kind of reminds me of God, a bit (if one can say that without sounding sacrilegious). I just imagine that God and Gandalf are a lot alike--wise and kind, yet a dangerous foe. And I think understanding Gandalf helps me understand God (in a way) and I think that is possibly what Tolkien intended.

Everything that's wrong with The Hobbit in four minutes | Hey, we like the Hobbit. That Tolkien was a good guy. The HFR 3D is fine if you like that kind of thing. But hang on, what's all this then? Buying advice from the leading technology site

The Last Goodbye. This song is so emotional! It fits its purpose so well! The sad thing about it is that not only is it extremely sad and beautiful, but Billy Boyd, PIPPIN, sings this, which kind of provides a connection to LOTR. This means that The Last Goodbye not only ends the Hobbit series, but ends Tolkien's overall story. We now know the whole story. The movie making is done, the books are written. Our only job now, is to remember. Long live JRR Tolkien. Your legacy will last forever…
