8th New York Cavalry Monument stands on the position now occupied by the near-by 8th Illinois Cavalry monument. It was moved since it was previously sitting on what was the approximate center of the main battle line of the 8th Illinois on the morning of July 1, 1863, was dedicated on June 9, 1889.
British Light Brigade Monument - This monument is dedicated to the men of the British Cavalry Light Brigade that made the famous and disastrous charge at the Battle of Balaklava during the 1854 Crimean War. Location: Balaklava Battlefield, Balaklava, City of Sevastopol, Ukraine
He was an interpreter for the United States Cavalry. He accompanied Lieutenant Colonel George A. Custer's column and died with him at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. (Mass grave at the top of Last Stand Hill).
