Jeff Daniels and Michelle Williams: In <i>Blackbird</i>, David Harrower’s 2005 drama about the aftermath of a disastrous (and illegal) affair, Daniels and Williams—who have worked on Broadway stages before—erase any lingering hint of celebrity carpetbagging. This is tooth-and-nail theater, with the talent and star power to make it sell.
