Masada, Israel. CHECK. This is a heated swimming pool. The fires were kept burning between the columns below, covering all the space under the floor. You can see two layers of a reproduction floor in the pic. The upper room was filled with water. Instant heated pool.
Brass strigil. Used by ancient Romans to scrape dirt and sweat from their bodies. The Romans did not use soap. Instead, perfumed oil would be rubbed onto the body and then scraped off with the strigil, removing any dead skin, sweat, and dirt. It was boiled clean so the strigil would have been a hygienic instrument, especially since the Romans shared bath facilities at bath houses.
