This last Sunday three Seattle Pacific University students came by Tent City 3 to just hangout and spend time in camp, getting to know the residents. What a beautiful example of just reaching out and saying hello. Thank you students of SPU! Tony, on the left, is a resident of Tent City 3 and is being schooled by two of the visitors on a card game. Meanwhile, the third student was getting whooped in a game of chess by one of the other campers. Queen Anne 2/8/2012

Tent City 3 breaking camp at Wallace Field on the Seattle Pacific University campus this morning, heading to St. Mark's on Capitol Hill. By 8:00AM this morning all the tents were down, being packed and loaded into the trucks. A whole lot of community going on. Queen Anne 3/24/2012

This is Sonny and Caesar at Gas Works Park last night standing around the fire to stay warm. Garland, Eric, Tim, Steve and Simon were also standing there. They are all homeless. The big news of the evening was that Garland, who had received the beautiful pair of boots from Tim Taylor, was celebrating his one year anniversary of NO alcohol! He proudly talked about how different his life was now that he wasn't drinking! 12/30/2011

This is Joseph Pidgeon opening the package sent to him from Lynie. When I brought it down to Joseph he knew right away what it was. Nobody was talking, everyone there knew how much this new guitar meant to Joseph. Steve handed him a carpet knife and said, "Go ahead Joseph, open it up." Joseph opened the package and said, "I want to take a few days to take it all in, collect my feelings, and then I would like to find the right way to thank the woman that did this for me." This is Scotty Ferguson getting up after his first night sleep at Tent City 3. Scotty is homeless and has recently quit drinking. He's putting a ton of effort into staying sober. Tent City 3 should also get a bear-hug for being a zero-alcohol-tolerance community. For someone like Scotty this is so VERY important. Queen Anne 2/2/2012

This is Desert Sands, one of the men's community tents at Tent City 3. I believe this tent has space for (8) bed spots. My guess is that the residents of TC3 would read this and laugh, but honestly, there is a remarkable attitude here of making the most of it. What amazes me most about the campers of TC3 is this feeling of community. Thank you to all of those in the larger community that support TC3!!! Queen Anne 2/2/2012
