Use the thickest nozzle on your baker's bag for the first layer of icing. I used store bought- and just went around the cake with short steady squiggles, towards the middle until the whole cake is covered.
After both layers of cake are cool, and sauce is cooled, place your first cake layer into whatever you're serving it in. (Remember, it's supposed to look like pasta- so place it in something you'd serve pasta in)
