The latest research now suggests that these pesticides might be negatively impacting the numbers of butterflies across many parts of Britain.The analysis indicated decline in numbers of 15 out of 17 butterfly species, including small skipper, small tortoiseshell and wall butterfly, due to use of neonicotinoids.

The Forestry comission are runing an open day on Saturday 22 May. Sessions are at 10am and 2pm at Allt Mhuic Butterfly reserve on the shore of Loch Arkaig, Led by butterfly experts and our own environment staff. Activities for adults and children looking at the wildlife we can find - specifically the Chequered Skipper, ......a butterfly only found in a 25 mile radius of Fort William. Other animals we will look out for are other butterflies and moths, birds small and large, as well as our own…
