Seph Lawless, as he is known, is an American artist and political activist ("artivist") who has spent years cataloging and chronicling abandoned places in the United States and beyond. His 2013 book, "Autopsy of America," was released in 2013, capturing the devastating effects globalization has had on the average American, and focuses on some of the most economically deprived portions of the country. From Lawless' website: "The Artivist (Artist + Activist) uses their creativity to fight and struggle against injustice and oppression by any medium necessary ...a pen, a lens, a brush, a voice ...even your body." His work is starkly beautiful, showing a side of America that many would love to remain hidden, and that shows the real struggle that so many go through.
