Lots of premature babies need to have a blood transfusion during their stay in neonatal care. The blood transfusion may help the preemie to develop faster and feed more successfully which could ultimately lead to them going home sooner. It is estimated that 60,000 units of blood and 15,000 units of platelets are used on neonatal units every year in the UK. Can you help? www.blood.co.uk
VICKY-There is a graphic image of a blood drop placed at the center. The blood drop is composed of a pair of hands together with a red cross. A heart formed by the action of putting two hands together can symbolize ‘love’, ‘care’ and ‘benevolence’. The colour of red and the red cross can express the meaning of ‘assist’ and ‘support’. Overall, the aim of creating this design is to encourage the general public to donate their blood as it can save the lives of others who are in need of blood.
