Bloomerang Purple - Reblooming Lilac - Syringa x. It's the new "Bloomerang" lilac. It's a small bush rather than the size of the typical lilac. It blooms first in the spring, and then re-blooms in the summer and stays until the first frost!
Pulsatilla vulgaris (pasque flower) One of the first flowers to be blooming in my Zone 3 garden. The soft down on its leaves begs to be touched. The seed heads are just as interesting plus the foliage looks good all year. I cut them back in early spring as soon as I see new growth. It grows in full sun in a gravel garden with no extra watering. Does self-seed, so the seed heads may be removed when the seeds begin to drop. Still, it is a plant that I don't mind making itself at home.
