The Art of Goysplaining I finally have words to articulate the feeling of being condescended to by people who are less informed than I am. That’s why when a non-Jewish colleague at work spent ten minutes explaining Passover to me as if I, a Jew, had never heard of it before, a word immediately popped into my head: “goysplaining.”
One of the great love stories of my life has been the story of my love affair with Talmud. My first encounter with learning gemara had many of the harbingers of a new romantic relationship. And finally, it consumed my thoughts, making me feel energized and alive in a way that few others things in my life ever had.
