Greenwood Plantation near Thomasville, Georgia is a Greek Revival mansion designed by architect John Wind, built 1838-1844 for Thomas & Lavinia Jones. It was sold to millionaire & horse racing enthusiast Payne Whitney at the end of the 19th century. After Payne's death in 1927, Greenwood was inherited by his son Jock Whitney, who was responsible for arranging the financing for the movie Gone with the Wind, which premiered in Atlanta in December 1939, with Jock Whitney in attendance.
