Pripyat is a ghost town in close proximity to the Chernobyl nuclear plant. City name itself was derived from the Pripyat River, on whose banks were the first Ukrainian "Atomic City" built. Originally it was a "young town" nuclear power plant workers. The average age of the population, which lived here before the disaster about 50,000, was less than 30 years. Today Pripyat, "Ghost Town" is dead, uninhabited zone. The buildings and amenities are in ruins.
