Yesterday my wife and I took a hike along the San Diego River in Lakeside California. The Lakeside's River Park Conservancy has been very active in our area acquiring and restoring lands along the river. They have done some very good work, and it is a beautiful walk. This looks best viewed large. To view it large, please press "L". My infrared set has more IR images and an explanation of how they are done. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157600...

Not only is the sound of a waterfall relaxing, but seeing the power of years of running river water is always a bit fascinating - and humbling. Copper Falls is always gorgeous.

Instagram photo by jercollins_com - Happy 100th birthday to the @nationalparkservice ! Here's my aerial of @zionnps - my favorite national park. Sorry other parks, but I have good reason. On my first visit in 1998 I decided it was the most beautiful place I'd ever seen- soaring walls of ruby and Crimson colored sandstone, with a dark snaking Virgin river beneath. Years later my son was named after the park. So... It will always be my #1. Since then I have climbed many of the walls in the…

Playing Misty by Martha Decker. The sun appears and makes mist as it warms up the lava flows on the Lake Superior shoreline at Cascade River State Park near Grand Marais, Minnesota. This was one of my first, ever, 35mm slide photos. My dad had bought me a Pentax H2 35mm SLR camera for Christmas and in April, we went up to the North Shore so he could teach me how to use it.

Miquel Fabré posted a photo: While my granddaughters were playing in the nearby park, I was amusing myself by photographing the landscapes I had at hand. Forests, meadows, groves, rivers etc. And as I looked in the distance, I noticed that very close was a very old tree, with beautiful roots twisted by the years, cold, snow, sun ... and I thought they deserved a photo. At first I edited it in color, but I did not like it and I turned it into black and white. I think it has much more force…

The Municipal Pool used to be on this spit of land inside one of the hairpin bends of the Little Arkansas River in Wichita. Photo taken in the 1950s. The reason my family hardly ever went there was that the Osage Park pool was only three blocks from our house, and admission and swimming lessons there were always FREE for kids! Of interest, the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas Rivers can be seen in the upper left of this picture.

Susan Stripling Photography - Gramercy Park Hotel Wedding Photographer: I’m often asked by my clients to take pictures of them in certain locations or in front of certain important landmarks. While many wedding photographers don’t like being directed as to which "photo spots" to use, I actually welcome learning more about my clients and what types of locations they are drawn to. For this particular wedding at The River Café in Brooklyn, the bride got ready in a gorgeous suite at The…

This is a photo of my friend Nancy, taken just off the Green River in Mammoth Cave National Park (KY). This is by far my favorite kayak picture that I have ever personally taken!
