A MEDIEVAL SWORD EARLY CENTURY In excavated condition with tapering double-edged blade, cross-guard tapering in section towards the ends, strongly formed 'wheel' pommel with recessed centre, and bevelled rectangular tang button.
A Viking blacksmith's grave containing tongs, a bent sword, pieces of metalwork and an axe was recently uncovered in Sogndalsdalen, Norway. All of the artifacts will be conserved before being put on display at the University Museum of Bergen.
