The Leeds Pottery started by a consortium of investors in `770, immediately produced creamware of excellent quality. Although they were influenced considerably by contemporary Staffordshire creamwares, the Yorkshire potteries achieved a distinctive style of their own, notably with intricate pierced decoration and delicate twisted handles.
