1 c br. Sugar, 1/2 c butter, 2 c karo syrup, heat in saucepan. Pour in 9x13 pan. Slice and place loaf french bread on top of mixture.mix 5 eggs, 1 1/2 c milk, 1t vanilla, in bowl and pour over top. Sprinkle with pecans. cover let set. bake 350 x 30 minutes. Garnish w powered sugar and maple syrup
French Toast Casserole Instead of bread cubes I use cinnamon raisin or blueberry bagels cubed. You can make this up the night before. Just take out of fridge about an hour before baking and dot with butter. Top with the cinnamon sugar & bake as directed. Delicious and so much easier than going thru the hassle of making french toast.
