Flag of the 65th Georgia Inf Regt. After the first color bearers were killed, Pvt John Davis of Co D carried the flag until the Battle of Franklin was over. He then stuffed it into his boot to protect it and brought it back home with him. He donated it to the Southern Museum of Civil War in Kennesaw Ga. Major General, Henry "Harry" Heth. Grandfather fought in the American Revolution. Cousin of George Pickett. Served under Kirby Smith in the West before for rejoining the ANV in 1863. Promoted to Major General after Chancellorsville, and served under AP Hill at Gettysburg. (West Point - Class of 1847).
