John Beresford Fowler ( 1906 –  1977) was dubbed "the Prince of Decorators" by Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire, & not only established the romantic English Country House Style but also the modern decorating firm as we know it today. With Nancy Lancaster & Sibyl Colefax, he headed up the London enterprise Colefax & Fowler & turned out oodles of wallpapers & fabrics. He was the advisor to England's National Trust, responsible for authentic restoration of many historic interiors in 1970s.
