21) Wow! Grainger has a Facebook page. That's a bit surprising because they have a pretty stodgy image overall. That might be part of why it took me a while to start working with them (and very nearly didn't). Come to think of it, they don't seem to connect things together very well. For example, the catalog didn't seem to indicate that Grainger has a social media presence. Maybe that was buried on page 3,915.

14) The TSR shows me Grainger's hospitality line catalog, which I had glanced at while I was on their site. Having this discussion has really opened my eyes about all the ways that Grainger can help. I'm not sure how I could have arrived at this conclusion without the TSR.

38) Grainger even has a huge show every year, but I doubt anyone outside of their current customer base knows about it, so it's like they're preaching to the choir. I'm now a fellow convert, but I think the company would benefit from making it much easier to convey their value to potential customers. Perhaps they need to create a different website and social media profile for each industry being targeted. That might make it a lot easier for them to earn customer trust much more quickly.

7) I'm not sure about this... I walk in and the store only contains a couple of hundred items on the floor. There's a big warehouse in the back, behind glass, that apparently stocks about 200,000 items. When you walk in, you have to take a number and the place is staffed by a bunch of very industrial looking guys. If I end up working with Grainger, I think I'll be sending one of my staff members down here. This place doesn't feel very comfortable to me.
