Aladdin Mantle Lamps are among the finest oil lamps in the world. Mantle Lamps burn six times brighter than flat wick lamps. They make no sound, don't need pumping and have no odor. Aladdin was started in 1908 and though the name has changed, the company still produces lamps today as Aladdin Mantle Lamp Co. They are used in areas where power loss is common and are great for light and heat. The table top lamp on the left was made from 1928-1935. The shelf lamp on the right is circa 1915.

In an emergency, you can use an oil lamp not only for light but maybe even a bit of heat if you huddle around it and even a little cooking...you might be able to heat water over the chimney !
