A gold, enamel and diamond locket/necklace, by Carlo Giuliano, circa 1880. The circular locket with blue and white guilloché enamel and rose-cut diamond highlights within a border of half pearls, the reverse with a black enamelled monogram, to a similarly-enamelled bail, and delicate blue and white enamelled ropetwist necklace interspersed with grey seed pearls, clasp with maker’s mark CG, chain length 36.9cm, locket length 4.9cm. Via Bonhams.
Enameled front and back. Black on one side and black and white on the other side. An engraved cross on each side. Even the spine of the book is very detailed. This gold filled book locket slides open to reveal a hidden compartment. This little compartment would have held a lock of hair or memento from a loved one. It holds closed very securely. This locket dates to the 1870s.
