Basilosaurus is Latin for “King Lizard”, but actually they are mammals, early whales to be specific. Basilosaurus was 50-70 ft. (18M) in length and it was the largest predator of its time. It lived 45-34 Million Years Ago in the late Eocene Period, raising its young in warm shallow seas. This species of whale was unique because they had very small hind limbs in addition to their front flippers.
