Army PFC. Sam W. Huff, 18, of Tucson, Arizona. Died April 18, 2005, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Assigned to 170th Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade, Fort Lewis, Washington. Died in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained April 17 when an improvised explosive device detonated near her vehicle.

Auchman  Died November 9, 2004 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom  37, of Waterloo, N.Y.; assigned to the 5th Air Support Operations Squadron, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died Nov. 9 of injuries sustained when multiple rocket-propelled grenades struck his location in Mosul, Iraq.

Memorial Day: Afghanistan: SFC Nate Chapman has the single unwanted distinction of being the first American Soldier killed by enemy action in Afghanistan.  SFC Chapman, a Green Beret and member of ODA-194 in the 3rd Battalion 1st Special Forces Group out of Fort Lewis Washington was serving on his third combat tour, his two previous combat tours having been in Panama and Desert Storm.
