It's long been assumed that reptiles are non-social, so their behaviour is determined by their genes, not by their interactions with members of the same species. But Australian scientists have conducted the first study on young reptiles reared without their siblings to discover that social interactions are crucial in the development of their fighting skills and colour-changing abilities. This is particularly a relevant finding for zoos and lizard pet owners.
