"Disgrace." 1999 Booker Prize winner about a white South African professor who is dismissed for having an affair with a student and who then witnesses an attack by three black men on his daughter at her farm. The novel is straightforwardly written and explores the changing political landscape in South Africa as well as larger themes of communication, aging, power, and exploitation. Well written but also a bit flat and almost lifeless.

Disgrace by J. Man Booker Prize, I finished it and knew I had read a great book but could not explain why. It was proof to me that book groups are a necessary part of life.

My English Prof. made us read this in college, WAY before the movie was ever thought of. It changed my life because of the historical development my teacher involved us in.
