Homemade Healthy Croutons  I have been making Homemade Croutons since I was a teenager.  I used to do this in the microwave but not now because I think microwaves are unhealthy. So now I use the oven.  I used to use butter, which is definitely better than margarine but even so now I use Olive Oil.  I use all fresh ingredients.  I loved the way they tasted before but I knew I had to find a healthier way to make them.

#Hummus  I added 2 slices of roasted red bell peppers…I love the flavor of this. I will Never again buy store bought hummus.  This hummus is SO much better than store bought.  1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained ¼ cup tahini ¼ cup water 2 Tbs. extra-virgin olive oil 1 Tbs. fresh lemon juice 2 cloves garlic, minced ¼ cup fresh parsley, packed ½ tsp. salt ¼ tsp. ground cumin  Place all ingredients in a food processor.  Process until mixture is a smooth

vitamin C helps the body absorb the iron. Tea and coffee contains compounds called polyphenols, which can bind with iron making it harder for our bodies to absorb it. Calcium also hinders the absorption of iron; avoid high-calcium foods for a half hour before or after eating iron-rich foods. Cooking foods containing such as tomato sauce and other acids, such as vinegar, red wine, lemon or lime juice, in an iron pot can also increase the iron content of the final mixture.
