The first step in gaining control of attention while online is: intention. You must set up a goal and actually intend to achieve that goal. Goals and intentions work in order to make you realize what matters most so that you can tune out the irrelevant information. Knowing that you have a goal to reach can keep you focused. It also makes your mind aware that you have something specific to do and that you need to achieve it.
Distraction was also another topic covered in this chapter. Distraction is what takes our attention away from things that we are trying to focus on. Distraction is something that people, including myself, fall victim to because it is so easy to get distracted. It is also a lot harder to become undistracted and that is where the challenge lies. Training yourself to avoid distraction in the first place.
